Jillian Newmyer

Jillian Newmyer is an undergraduate student in Nuclear Engineering at the University of Tennessee Knoxville. She is originally from Columbia, South Carolina, where her interest in the nuclear industry was peaked due to the closeness of the VC Summer Nuclear Power Plant. Her current research involves creating and modifying code dealing with neutron transport within lattice spacing under the direction of Dr. Ronald Pevey. After graduation, she is hoping to attend graduate school for medical physics.

Jillian is an active member of the Women in Nuclear and American Nuclear Society chapters at UTK. She is currently the President of ANS chapter and sometimes writes in the chapter newsletter, The Nuclear Noodle.

Jillian is currently spending her summer working as a reactor engineering intern at Plant Hatch in Baxley, GA. She enjoys spending her free time teaching nuclear science to little kids, catching up on Brooklyn Nine Nine, and playing one of her many board games.
